      Course Overview

      Kanban is fast becoming the modern way to manage an organisation’s delivery of customer value. In today’s always-on environment, you need a clear set of practices that do not get in the way. Applying Professional Kanban will:

      • Generate a shared understanding of your work
      • Give you focus
      • Save you time
      • Answer the question, “How long will this take?”

      The Applying Professional Kanban (APK) course will give you an in-depth introduction to improving your team’s effectiveness by applying Kanban flow principles.

      During the class, you will learn the basic principles of flow and how to use them to make your team process more efficient, predictable, and effective. With an emphasis on the practical application of concepts, this course includes many hands-on exercises that will lead you through the steps of setting up and operating a Kanban system for continuous value delivery and improvement.

      Attending the class prepares you to take the exam and become a certified Professional Kanban I (PK I).

      The class will run in Romanian or English.

      Learning Goals

      After this course, you should be able to:
      • Explain the basic principles of flow
      • Describe the value of WiP limits
      • Create a visual board to manage your work
      • Capture and interpret key flow metrics and analytics to find improvement opportunities
      • Explain why flow should be focused on value delivery
      • Define, build, operate and continuously improve a Kanban system
      • Discuss how tooling impacts your implementation
      • Discuss the diversity of flow/Kanban approaches and how Kanban Guide strives to not lack support for them. 
      • Understand that the organization can start with the most simple Kanban on the planet, without being simplistic, and allow for more sophisticated approaches where sophistication if needed

      1Is the course confirmed?
      The course needs 10 attendees as a minimum to be able to be confirmed. If it has not reached the minimum number 10 days prior the course date, the attendees will be informed about.
      2What do I need to bring to class?
      Just yourself and your desire to learn! We will provide everything else you need.
      3Do I have to pay extra for the exam?
      No. All participants completing the Applying Professional Kanban course will receive a password to attempt the Professional Kanban I (PK I) assessment. The industry-recognized PK I certification requires a minimum passing score of 85%. APK class participants who attempt the PK I assessment within 14 days of receiving their free password and do not score at least 85% will be granted a 2nd attempt at no additional cost.
      4What if I can only attend part of the class?
      Due to the interactive nature of our class, missing large portions not only impacts your own learning, but that of your teammates as well. For this reason, we strongly recommend that students make arrangements so they can attend class in its entirety.
      5Will this course run?
      When you register for this class, we take your commitment seriously and will do everything we can to ensure your class will run. Although we do reserve the right to cancel or reschedule courses due to unforeseen events (such as illness, family emergency or inclement travel weather), it is extremely rare that we do so. In the event that we do find it necessary to cancel or reschedule your class, you will be given the option of rescheduling your attendance to a future class or receiving a full refund.
      6How do I guarantee my seat in the class?
      Our classes often sell out. You must provide payment in order to guarantee your your seat in the class. If the class reaches capacity and we have not yet received your payment, you will be moved to a waitlist and notified if a seat becomes available.
      1Do you offer group discounts?

      2I am unemployed / student. Can I get a discount?

      3Do you offer other discounts?
      We offer quite a few discounts, including Group discounts, Early Bird specials and a Transition discount for those between jobs. Please email us at support@smartcoach.ro for more information.
      4Can I reschedule my attendance to a different class?
      We understand that life can be unpredictable, so we are happy to reschedule your course attendance to another course if necessary. However, rescheduling within 2 business days of your scheduled course will be subject to a $100 rescheduling fee. If you need to reschedule, please email us at support@smartcoach.ro.
      5Can I transfer my registration to a different person?
      Yes. Substitutions are accepted at any time prior to commencement of the class. There is no charge for this service. If you would like to transfer your registration to another person, please email us at support@smartcoach.ro.
      6Can I take the class again?
      Yes, you can. We reserves three complimentary seats at each of our public courses for students who have successfully completed a previous course from us, but would like to take it a second time to brush up on their learning. This offer is provided on a first-come, first-served basis and must be used for the same type of course as the original.       Ionut is a passionate Agile realist, organizational change advocate and corporate cultural renovator who brings a decade of experience in leading teams and organizations in Agile transformations. He translates his enthusiasm for and understanding of Lean-Agile values and principles to help organizations implement effective ways to manage work, transform theirs corporate cultures to survive in the 21st century, and engage people, with a focus on delivering genuine business value.

      Drawing from Lean Thinking and Psychology, Ionut teaches teams to practically apply an Agile mindset, and in the process, find joy in their work again. For him, helping others improve their working life isn’t simply a job but a social responsibility.
